Everyone has grand aspirations with setting New Year’s resolutions, but how about creating more throughout the year? Each year, 45% of people make New Year’s resolutions. Exercise more, eat less, start a new hobby, the list is endless. Well, being car people here at Hoffman Auto Group, we have a few recommended resolutions for your vehicle. Taking care of our vehicles keeps them looking great and running efficiently and safely.
Having an organized car is always a good idea and we shared some great ideas to help keep everything neat and tidy in another post. It is also important to keep your vehicle documentation organized and easy to access. There’s a lot of paperwork involved when it relates to purchasing and servicing your car, including registration, insurance information, the title- the list goes on and on. It’s easy for papers to get shoved into your packed glove box and forgotten about. Although these aren’t documents you’re likely to be reaching for on a daily basis, when you’re in a situation where you need them- like after an accident or when selling your vehicle- it it beneficial to be able to locate them quickly. Create some sort of system-a folder, a big envelope, whatever works best for you- and commit to keeping your important vehicle documents organized in the event that you do need them. Clean up your act!
Winter brings with it the salt and sand buildup on the surface and undercarriage of your vehicle and if you drive a dark colored vehicle the struggle to keep it clean is real. Keeping your vehicle free of debris in the winter, as well as prepping your vehicle in the warmer months, will help resist the rust. We recommend having your car washed regularly to remove any sand and salt deposits. Many car washes including Hoffman Auto offer special services for detailing your vehicle to keep it looking beautiful. Don’t just pay attention to the outside … keeping the inside of your vehicle clean reduces the weight you’re carrying around in your car and helps improve gas mileage. Learn a new trick!
Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Not that we’re calling anyone names, of course! Why not learn something about your car? What about learning how to change your wiper blades? Although it varies by make and model, most manufacturers recommend changing your wipers every 12,000 miles. If you get stuck with a flat tire, do you know how to put on a spare? These Cub Scouts from Avon learned recently! Learning simple tasks like these can save you a lot of time, and may even save your life. This should be a no-brainer, but every day we witness people making careless decisions while driving. Make a promise to yourself, your loved ones and others on the road to drive safely by not driving drunk or distracted. Simple tasks like changing the radio station or grabbing a bottle of water while driving are more distracting than people realize, as Toyota demonstrated in this video. Don’t ever drive under the influence. According to MADD, 28 people die every day because of the careless actions of drunk drivers. As shown in these YouTube videos, losing someone to drunk driving is devastating, but preventable! Don’t add to or become part of that statistic. For more about MADD, check out our previous posts or visit their website.
