Hoffman Honda is proud to partner with Foodshare for the 2017 Honda Against Hunger Food and Fund Drive.
Do you know where your next meal is coming from? Nearly half a million Connecticut residents cannot answer yes to that question. In fact, according to a 2014 study by Feeding America, 73% of food bank clients in Connecticut had to choose between food or utilities, 63% had to choose between food or rent, and 68% had to choose between food or medical care. This is why as part of the Connecticut Honda Dealers, Hoffman Honda and other local dealers have partnered with Foodshare and the Connecticut Food Bank for the Third Annual Honda Against Hunger Food and Fund Drive now through December 12. For information on how you can get involved in donating, please read until the end of the post.
When hunger stops, so will we
Foodshare is the Feeding America food bank serving Connecticut’s Hartford and Tolland Counties, where 127,000 people struggle with hunger. In partnership with the food industry, donors, community leaders and volunteers, Foodshare works to maximize access to nutritious food and other resources that support food security. Last year, Foodshare distributed 11.5 million meals worth of food to a network of 300 local partner programs including food pantries, shelters, and community kitchens. And, because hunger is bigger than food, Foodshare collaborates with anti-hunger organizations, policy makers, and the broader community to build effective solutions to end hunger.
Every $10 donated helps Foodshare provide 25 meals
Last year’s food drive resulted in the collection of nearly 1,500 pounds of food- 640 pounds of which were collected by Hoffman Honda and our customers, thanks to the collaborative efforts of several Honda dealers in Connecticut, as well as the generous members of our community. This holiday season, Foodshare’s goal is to bring thousands of Thanksgiving meals to those in need in the Greater Hartford area. Hoffman Honda is partnering with Foodshare for the Honda Against Hunger Food and Fund Drive for the third year in a row. “After the success of last year’s food drive, the decision to seek donations again this year was simple,” said Matthew Hoffman, Vice President of Hoffman Auto Group and President of the Connecticut Honda Dealers. “The holiday season provides a great opportunity for all of us to work together, and to help our fellow neighbors in need by putting food on their tables.”
